Series Overview:
Christ & Culture

April 16 - April 30, 2023
3 Week Series

Religious people have always seemed to have a difficult relationship with culture. Take, for example, religious food restrictions: Muslims don't drink alcohol. Mormon refrain from coffee. Jews don't eat pork. Catholics aren't to consume meat on Fridays during Lent. These dietary rules are curious, and they point to a far more pressing question: What should the relationship between my faith and popular culture look like? Some live a faith that suggests God is against culture - that everything about culture is an offense, and so they rail at school board meetings and on the campaign trail about how evil America is. Others live as though God is over culture - secretly controlling culture to God ultimate ends - so they throw their hands in the air, because in the end God wins. Still others believe God of culture who is enlightening and transforming it from within - using people like you and me. This series will have us wonder: How is a follower of Jesus to relate to culture? How did Jesus?

Week One: Why are Christians Judgmental?
Week Two: Politics & Religion: In It To Win It
